Drive unit
The drive to experience a new kind of mobility
Around 90% of all pedelecs have a mid-drive motor. Most eBikers have good reason to choose this concept.
The most advanced drive technology is particularly notable for the natural riding sensation it offers, thanks to the direct transmission of power to the chain. Compared to front or rear wheel motors, the mid-drive motor also scores highly for its balanced weight distribution and centre of gravity. At the same time, the mid-drive motor offers good drive control, is compatible with all gear shifting systems and uses less energy due to a higher degree of efficiency. Another advantage of the mid-drive motor is the compact construction and low weight. Seamless integration in the frame design permits greater ground clearance and a lower Q factor.
The secret behind the natural riding sensation is innovative Bosch technology: The multi-sensor concept ensures perfectly coordinated motor support. The sensors measure the torque, speed and acceleration more than 1,000 times per second, ensuring perfect interaction between rider and eBike. The technology not only ensures riding fun, but also the necessary level of safety. If the legal maximum speed is exceeded, the motor support will switch off automatically. Depending on the product line, Bosch mid-drive motors are available in two variants: with support up to 25 km/h or 45 km/h.

Purion gives eBikers a swift overview that limits all information to the essentials. The Intuvia is an easy-to-operate control centre. With its robust design and great connectivity, Kiox offers all the functions that ambitious sporty riders could need and now also guides them to their destination. Thanks to the touch function, the Nyon on-board computer can be operated intuitively, while at the same time supporting eBikers as a fitness trainer and guide when they explore unfamiliar locations.
The smart system, the new system generation from Bosch eBike Systems, is fully connected and always up-to-date thanks to regular updates over-the-air. The smart displays LED Remote and Kiox 300 connect you to your own eBike via the Flow app to give you a Connected Biking experience.

They combine impressive mileage, a long service life and low weight with an ergonomic design and simple handling. The high-quality lithium-ion batteries are equipped with a battery management system, which recognises potential sources of error and protects the battery cells from overload.

Riding modes
The smart system offers a choice of different riding modes, these adapt the support from the eBike motor according to application and rider type.
*In eMTB mode, the level of support varies between Tour and Turbo riding modes.
**In Tour+ mode, the level of support varies between Eco and Turbo riding modes.
All the available riding modes can be flexibly combined on eBikes with the smart system. Exceptions in this case are Cargo mode and Race mode, which are only available for eBikes with the Cargo Line or the Performance Line CX Race Limited Edition. Specialist dealers can activate up to four modes (in addition to Off mode) and thus adapt them perfectly to individual eBikers (unless modifications have been excluded by the bicycle manufacturer). With the help of the individual riding modes, the Race, Cargo, Turbo, Auto, eMTB, Sport, Tour+, Tour and Eco modes can be configured according to individual needs via the eBike Flow app. The support, dynamics, maximum torque and maximum speed can be set within the specified limits. It's not possible to customise your riding mode on S-pedelecs.
