Transporting the eBike
Transport by car
Our components are protected against dust and water jets according to IP 55. To prevent defects, we recommend:
- Avoid transporting eBikes outside the vehicle (e.g., on a roof rack or hitch rack) in rain or wet conditions.
- For safety reasons and to protect against damage, remove the detachable display and, if possible, the battery from your eBike and stow both in the car.
- To protect the battery and increase safety, do not leave your battery exposed to strong sunlight in the car for long periods.
Transport by train
In trains with bicycle compartments, most eBikes (up to 20 mph) can usually be taken along without complications. An extra bike ticket and space reservation for the eBike are often required. The eBike battery must remain securely mounted during the journey and must not be charged. Before starting your trip, you should ask the respective service provider about the exact transport conditions. In some cases, it is not possible to take eBikes on all routes.
Transport by local public transportation or long-distance bus
It is advisable to check with the respective transport authority before traveling. In local public transportation systems (for example, suburban rail networks) and in long-distance buses, it is often possible to purchase a bicycle ticket to take eBikes on board outside of the regional blocked periods. The transport of eBikes on long-distance buses is regulated differently depending on the provider. You should also inquire in good time before setting off on your journey.
Transport by plane
International Air Transportation Association IATA has forbidden the transportation of eBike batteries on passenger planes. We recommend renting a Bosch eBike battery at your destination. Check in advance whether the airline transports eBikes without a battery.
Note: If you use eBike Alarm, make sure that transport mode is activated during transport to avoid false alarms and prevent the ConnectModule from communicating via a mobile network.
