What does torque indicate in the context of drive units?

Torque is measured and specified in newton meters (Nm). It describes the force with which you pedal (pedal force), or the force generated by your motor, and is responsible for how fast you can accelerate. The maximum torque is mostly used when accelerating or climbing steep hills and is not permanently available. A higher torque results in more powerful acceleration or enables the transport or movement of heavier loads.

To call up the maximum torque of the motor, a corresponding pedal force or torque is also required from you. This depends on the riding mode and its support factor.
