Five good reasons for an eMTB

More power and a whole new way of thinking

More power and a whole new way of thinking

I'm hoping to convince everyone out there: eMTBs are not just for older people. Instead, they are a completely new plaything that gives us the technology for a host of new outdoor experiences. The eMTB gives me a generous amount of thrust to help me climb new mountains and ride countless trails.

Independence from shuttles and lifts

Independence from shuttles and lifts

I don't need to push myself to the absolute limit on the uphill. I am not limited to biking areas with lifts, so I can experience nature without the hustle and bustle and can enjoy biking to the full. This gives me an even more intense feeling of freedom

More fun on the trails and uphill

More fun on the trails and uphill

I'm still the same person when I ride an eMTB: the same wild, limitless Kathi – just with a bit more power. It puts a broad grin on my face. It's the same smile that I know when on a fast downhill, when doing big jumps in Whistler or when I complete a huge dirt jump line.

The eBike arouses my curiosity

The eBike arouses my curiosity

When I'm on my eMTB I enjoy making detours to the left or right, taking me away from the familiar trail. I'm getting to know my local area in a new way, discovering new trails with motor support and giving it all I've got as I go.

The eBike pushes the boundaries

I don't allow my body to set my limits - I decide that for myself. Electric support enables me to take on tricky uphill sections and to challenge myself anew. The eBike creates new opportunities to reach my wildest dreams.

Growing interest in the eMTB Challenge

What makes me particularly happy is the fact that each year I see more and more familiar faces from the MTB scene at the start of the Bosch eMTB Challenge. Everyone wants to give it a try and form their own opinion. I think this attitude is great! And anyone who has ever ridden in the Bosch eMTB Challenge will know that this is not a ride in the park.

My pulse starts to race before uphill stages - it's a real challenge!

I have been excited about eMTB racing right from the start. The first time I was slightly overwhelmed by having to read maps and negotiate tricky uphill stages. But after a bit of practice, I quickly learned the ropes and achieved my first victory in 2017 in Willingen, bringing the title to Bavaria. There is now a real battle between us girls. My pulse starts to race before each uphill stage. I find it much more exhilarating than downhill and other races, even though this is a fun-oriented racing format. It's probably because I push myself particularly hard in order to master such difficult uphill sections!

My first bike after my injury was an eMTB

The eMTB was the first bike I was allowed to ride after my numerous injuries. Although the gravity scene is action-packed, it is also very dangerous - but you can't make an omelette without cracking eggs. I don't let myself get put off by this At that time I was dying to be allowed back on my bike. The eBike genuinely fed my soul because it allowed me to keep up my cycling. André Wagenknecht also uses the eBike for recovery and describes his experiences with rehab and training with the eBike:
